WHITESBORO — An overview of work at school buildings and readiness for the upcoming school year were among the highlights of the Whitesboro Central School Board of Education meeting Tuesday. . . .
New Elementary Special Education Programs Director of Special Programs & Services Tina Pawloski noted that a new special education classroom has been added at Westmoreland Road Elementary School. There will be three total special education elementary classrooms in the district (including at Marcy Elementary), that will be fully staffed with teachers and teacher assistants, Pawloski said. Students’ special needs range from developmental disabilities to autism spectrum, she noted.
“We have 20 students at a high level of need” in the district, said Pawloski. “And our needs continue to increase.” Special training is also underway for regular education teachers for special needs students who may be mainstreamed into their classrooms, Pawloski added. “Our overall” special education “numbers have increased and more students are coming in at the elementary level,” she said. . . .
