Sept 12, 2025, York Press: New SEND Central hub in York to open at Clifton Family Hub
SEND Central was suggested by a young person as the title for York’s new centre for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), following a competition earlier this year.
The hub will open to the public in the autumn at Clifton Family Hub.
Kaden, who proposed the winning name, said: "I chose SEND Central because it was a centre to everything SEND and also it sounded good because of the similar sounds of the two words 'SEND and CEN.'" Kaden, who proposed the winning name (Image: Supplied)
The hub will support young people with SEND aged 0 to 25 and their families, offering information, advice, and signposting to additional services.
Cllr Bob Webb, executive member for children, young people, and education at City of York Council, said: "Supporting all children, young people and their families is a priority for us and the new SEND Hub is so important for York.
"I’m delighted that its new name – SEND Central – reflects just how central it will be to young people with SEND and their families, providing a single location for information and advice, whatever the query."
Kaden will officially open the building at its launch in September.
