NW England
Dozens of extra places for pupils with autism could be created if plans for a £1.8m [$2.3M] school expansion are given the green light this week.
Council chiefs are poised to rubber-stamp expansion of Ashley High School in Widnes, which would take the number of school places there for children with autistic spectrum disorder (ASD) from 112 to 152.
The work would include constructing four additional classrooms at the site on Cawfield Avenue.
