(UK) Warks: More than 100 more SPED places added; demand continues to grow 9% a year for 5 yrs
Tysoe Church of England Primary School in Warwick is one of the schools in Warwickshire which will see children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) to benefit from increased access to specialist support, following the opening of several new SEND Resource Provisions across the county.
The new provisions have been established in primary and secondary schools across Warwickshire, creating more than 100 additional specialist places for children and young people whose needs can be met through a combination of mainstream education and targeted support.
The new resource provisions support pupils with Communication and Interaction (C&I) needs and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, helping more children access high-quality education closer to home while remaining part of their local school community. . . .
Demand for specialist provision continues to grow, with the number of pupils with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) in Warwickshire increasing by around nine percent each year over the past five years, in line with national trends. In response, Warwickshire County Council is working with schools across the county to increase the number of resourced provision places to more than 500 by 2028. . . .
