Feb 11, 2024, Chronicle Live: Plans submitted for specialist children's home in Sunderland
The plans would see a residential property converted into a home for children with autism, learning disabilities and sensory impairments
Plans have been put forward for a new specialist children's home in Sunderland. The ROC Group, a care provider, has submitted an application to Sunderland City Council to convert a residential property at 5 Saint Bedes Park into a home for children aged eight to 17 with autism, learning disabilities and sensory impairments….
A heritage statement submitted alongside the application assures that the minimal works to the property will preserve the special qualities of the Ashbrooke Conservation Area.
According to the applicant’s website, ROC Group provides “care solutions for children, young people and families in the North East of England”.
The provider offers a range of services including supported accommodation, children’s homes, family support, and outreach and respite services for those with additional needs. A decision on plans for the new children’s home on Wearside will be made once a period of council consultation has concluded.
