Feb 10, 2026, Wolsey Park SEN school given £10,000 [$14K] donation for sensory room

A GENEROUS donation of £10,000 [$14K] will help to fit-out a sensory room at a new special educational needs school in south Essex.

Mark Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, visited Railscape, in Rayleigh, to thank their managing director, ex-serviceman Michael Hayes, personally, at their Brook Road Industrial Estate offices.

This came after the firm announced they are donating £10,000 to help equip a sensory room at a new SEN school to be built in Wolsey Park, Rawreth.

Mr Francois, MP for Rayleigh and Wickford, has led the campaign for the new special school since July 2023.

He said: “This is a very kind donation towards an extremely worthy cause.

“I am proud to have a successful business like Railscape in my constituency, who provide quality, highly-skilled jobs in engineering, whilst also contributing part of their profits to their local town — in this instance to assist the education of special needs kids. . . .

Wolsey Park School was originally intended to cater for 190 pupils, however this has been increased to around 250.

The school will cater for children with the most severe special educational needs as that is where the “need is currently most acute”.

The trust already runs Castledon School in Wickford, which supports pupils with moderate learning difficulties and complex needs.
