(UK) Lincs: Council "[$29M] over its SEND budget...as demand continues to rise"

Nov 26, 2025, Lincs Online: Bracebridge Heath independent school would provide ‘much needed opportunity’ for children with special education needs

Plans for an independent school would provide a ‘much-needed opportunity’ for SEND children who aren’t in education, the company behind it says.

It would create 100 spaces by converting an empty NHS office building in Bracebridge Heath, near Lincoln.

The school would be run by Willow Independent Ltd, which runs several other schools in Lincolnshire, and would cater for students aged four to 18 years old.

The application comes as the county’s education system is struggling to deal with the number of students being recognised as having special educational needs and disabilities (SEND.)

It would employ between 25 and 35 members of staff. . . .

Pictures with the application show it is currently boarded up and unused.

Lincolnshire County Council reported in October that it was £22million [$29M] over its SEND budget for the financial year already, as demand continues to rise.
