Aug 12, 2025, S. Maryland News: New learning center in Waldorf provides resources for children with autism
A zip-glide, slide and shelves with toys and games welcome children with autism to play with same-aged peers at a new learning center in Waldorf.
SPARKS ABA, which uses personalized therapy treatments for children with autism, serves 30 Charles County families at home or at the center, Genevieve Marshall, senior regional director at SPARKS ABA, said.
Having a location in Waldorf offers a space for families who are not always available to stay at home during sessions.
Leah Jones, a behavioral analyst at SPARKS ABA, said, the learning center opened in May for children to have an open space to learn, play games, and work on arts and crafts. . . .
Programs aim to change the trajectory of a child’s learning so they can catch up to their peers with the duration of treatment being measured in six-month increments.
“We want to try and get as many learning opportunities in as possible,” Marshall said. “The goal that we have is therapy to be part of their everyday life.”. . .
