A new mental-health facility that will treat 81 youth with mental illnesses is now under construction.
The facility, which will be run by the charitable non-profit CASA Mental Health, will house 57 patients and treat 24 adolescent day patients with depression, anxiety, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and bipolar disorder. . . .
Once operational, the facility will employ about 40 staff members, along with a multi-disciplinary team across various programs. They include mental-health therapists, behaviour specialists, psychiatrists, therapy support navigators, nurses and support staff who will provide wraparound services for families. . . .
“This growing need drives CASA to expand our circle of care so more medical and therapeutic treatment options are available closer to home, when and where they’re needed.”
The facility is partly funded using a $75-million [$54M U.S.] investment announced by the province in 2025 for three new facilities in Calgary, Fort McMurray and Medicine Hat.
The investment is part of a broader effort by the province, which in 2024 also helped expand the non-profit’s operations in schools, where younger students with complex needs are offered various supports, including individual therapy, group therapy and psychiatric care.
