Sept 6, 2025, Radio Kerry: Government criticised over lack of autism unit in Moyvane
An opposition TD for Kerry has criticised the government for not opening an autism unit at Murhur National School in Moyvane.
Sinn Féin’s Pa Daly says the school's principal and board of management support the proposal.
He is questioning the government’s decision, pointing to, what he calls “significant unmet demand for special education in the area”, as well as a vacant classroom at the school.
Deputy Daly says the lack of provision is forcing some families to seek education for their children outside Kerry.
He also criticised the level of representation from government supporting TDs, claiming families in North Kerry feel overlooked and let down.
