The Headland Police Department has created its autism sticker as a way to notify first responders.
Investigator Bethany Hicks says a mother in the community brought this idea to her attention.
People can put the autism sticker on their vehicles and make first responders aware, reminding them of their training for those on the spectrum.
“They may respond differently or not communicate at all, so it is for first responders to be aware of these situations, what to look for, and how to handle these situations,“ Hicks said.
Investigator Hicks added that this helps parents because first responders will have that information simply by seeing the sticker.
The stickers are available at the Headland Police Department at their new location on Main Street.
