July 23, 2025, WHP, Harrisburg: Autism 'decals' available in York County to alert first responders during emergencies

The York County Sheriff's Office is rolling out a new Autism Decal Program to help first responders better interact with individuals who have autism.

As part of the program, the sheriff's office will provide free decals for families to put on their home or vehicle.

"The Autism Decal Program is a way to let emergency responders know that there may be a person with autism in a home or vehicle," the sheriff's office wrote in a Facebook post. "First responders know that children and adults with autism typically have difficulties in verbal and non-verbal communication and social interaction. With this knowledge, we will be better able to communicate and interact with our citizens."
