The mental health intervention pilot program is aimed at children who may have experienced a crisis or are showing signs of adverse behavior…. Starting this school year, more than 20 Wichita public schools will have direct access to mental-health services provided by Comcare. One-on-one counseling, group and family sessions will be available. The district expects to reach 800 students and their families this year. Davis says the program will cater primarily to children who may be in the foster system or have a juvenile record. He says the overall goal is to provide help both in and outside the classroom.
