The federal agency released key findings Thursday from that study. The state’s suicide rate among youth ages 10 to 17 had indeed more than doubled from 2011 to 2015, growing at an annual clip nearly four times faster than the national average. Numbers of young Utahns turning up at emergency rooms across the state due to self-inflicted injuries also doubled between 2011 and 2014, the CDC researchers found — as did the rate of patients at those younger ages who said they had been thinking about suicide. Those stark figures — and others underscoring Utah’s growing youth suicide crisis — were revealed Thursday in the newly-released CDC report, set to be presented by state officials at a Salt Lake City news conference. …
