(UK) Wokingham making plans for NEW SPECIAL ED SCHOOL

The borough is already home to the 'outstanding' rated Addington school in Woodley, but education bosses have revealed they want to open another in the area. It currently costs Wokingham Borough Council more than £2 [$2.6M U.S.] million a year to transport SEND children to school, at an approximate cost of £6,500 [$8.3K] per head. Children’s services leaders say the authority has seen an increase in the number of children and young people with an educational health and care plan attending a special school, and in particular schools outside the borough…. He said: “We need another special needs school and that’s going through the pipeline at the moment…. “If the numbers justify it, the school will be delivered.”
