(UK) Warks: Council to remodel school at add SPED places

Oct 12, 2025, BBC News: Consultation to revamp school for more SEN support

Plans to revamp a school in Warwickshire to cater for more children with special educational needs (SEN) have been put to a public consultation.

Warwickshire County Council has proposed a refurbishment and remodel of existing space within Holy Trinity Primary School, in Stratford-upon-Avon, to help create eight more SEN places.

This includes the revamp of a large room and office space to create one large classroom - as well as repurposing a large storage cupboard to use as a sensory room.

The consultation began on Monday and will run until Sunday, 16 November. A decision on the plans is due to be made by the council in December.

The extra provision at the school will support pupils with an education, health and care plan whose primary needs are social, emotional and mental health (SEMH).

These pupils will benefit from accessing education at a mainstream school through a flexible approach, tailored and adapted to their needs, said the consultation.

New members of staff who are skilled and trained practitioners in supporting children with SEMH will also be employed, said the plans.

If approved, the provision would be implemented for April 2026, said the consultation.
