(UK) Walsall: New "complex needs" school for 300; 'really good news'

May 10, 2024, Walsall.Gov: Walsall Council welcomes plan for new SEND school

The Department for Education (DfE) has announced plans for the new school, which will provide more than 300 full-time places for children with complex SEND needs including autism, social emotional and mental health needs.

The school will be an all-through school for both boys and girls aged between 3 and 19 and will help address the growing numbers of SEND places needed in Walsall.

The DfE will fund and build the free school, with the location and timescales for opening to be shared at a future date.

“ This is really good news.

“Walsall Council is committed to providing special educational needs school places for children which are local to them, so they can access social and support networks nearby. . .
