Swansea's cabinet will consider plans for more schools in the city to benefit from major investment in new classrooms and facilities.

Planned are significant improvements at Ysgol Gyfun Gymraeg Bryn Tawe and Gowerton School. A brand new special school for pupils with additional learning needs is also included in the next phase of the Band B programme.

Swansea Council said the planned new special school is subject to a statutory consultation process.

It said work is also progressing to consider options for the former Daniel James site in Mynydd-Bach….

Brand new builds for YGG Tan-y-lan and YGG Tirdeunaw, extensions and refurbishment at Ysgol Gyfun Gŵyr and Bishopston Comprehensive School and a new school, known as Maes Derw, for the some of the city's most vulnerable learners, are amongst recent projects completed.

The council said that since the Band B programme was first announced there had been "significant inflationary pressures". Cabinet is being asked to approve an additional £9m in principle towards future projects.

Members of the cabinet are being asked endorse this increase that would take the combined investment in the programme to more than £176m, subject to Welsh Government approval….
