(UK) Uppingham to spend $1M US on SPED to keep kids in county school

May 18, 2019, Stamford Mercury: Rutland County Council approves £700,000 plan to improve facilities for children with special educational needs at Uppingham Community College https://www.stamfordmercury.co.uk/news/700-000-boost-for-special-needs-9070413/ A £700,000 [$890,000 US dollars] scheme to teach children with special educational needs has been approved at Uppingham Community College. Rutland County Council has approved a plan for the college to build a new drama room , while redesigning and expanding its existing special education needs (SEND) facility. At present, the county council sends a number of children and young people with SEND to schools outside the county. The council says the new SEND facility will provide places for up to 10 young people who have communication and interaction needs, including those on the autistic spectrum. The council says this will allow them to live, be educated and grow with independence in the community….
