A CHURCH hall could be given a new lease of life as a day school for children with special educational needs.

St Nicholas Church Hall on New Street in Sutton, which had been previously put up for sale, may be converted into a SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) day school for up to 60 young people aged three to 19.

The plan has been submitted by Hopedale Children and Family Services, a specialist education provider.

The application to St Helens Borough Council is for a lawful development certificate to change the use of the building from a church hall (Use Class F1) to a SEND school (also Class F1).
