April 24, 2019, (UK) Education Executive: Suffolk to receive £45m [$59M US dollars] funding boost for SEND pupils As reported by the BBC, Suffolk County Council is due to receive tens of millions in funding to support its SEND provision Education for pupils in Suffolk with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) is set to receive a £45m boost. Suffolk County Council is aiming to create 800 new places for SEND pupils. The process is expected to take five years and cost £45m. The first phase of this programme has been approved, and will make some of the required places available for September 2020. … “The challenge now is to deliver these new places as quickly as possible,” he added. Jo Hammond, of Suffolk Parent Carer Network, commented: “This investment gives us confidence that our hopes of all of our children and young people with special education needs and disabilities being able to access good quality education provision that is local to home, may become more of a reality.”
