Proposals have been drawn up and issued to the council planning department seeking permission to create a special needs school at the site. … Plans seek to create a two-storey school building at the location. In a design and access statement drawn up by DV Architects on behalf of the applicant, plans state: "This scheme seeks to utilise this site as a new, purpose-built Special Educational Needs (SEN) School. "The proposed school would meet increasing local demand for SEN schools and would offer quality education for up to 30 students across six classrooms, associated communal spaces and outdoor amenity spaces."… Plans add: "This location creates the ideal balance for the school location, allowing for ease of access for pupils and staff within the local area while also providing a calm, quiet and semi-rural environment which meets the complex needs of the students"….
Childhood Lost
Children today are noticeably different from previous generations, and the proof is in the news coverage we see every day. This site shows you what’s happening in schools around the world. Children are increasingly disabled and chronically ill, and the education system has to accommodate them. Things we've long associated with autism, like sensory issues, repetitive behaviors, anxiety and lack of social skills, are now problems affecting mainstream students. Blame is predictably placed on bad parenting (otherwise known as trauma from home).
Addressing mental health needs is as important as academics for modern educators. This is an unrecognized disaster. The stories here are about children who can’t learn or behave like children have always been expected to. What childhood has become is a chilling portent for the future of mankind.
