(UK) Southampton: Local school to add special needs facilities

A Southampton school has been given the go-ahead to provide purpose-built facilities for children with special educational needs. Â . . .
A council report said: "The proposed works would provide additional resources for an existing education site, allowing the school to offer a more effective use of their campus." . . .
The college already boasts the Thrive Hub, a facility for children with autism and moderate learning difficulties. . . .
"The provision has already supported a significant number of young people and has helped strengthen understanding of SEND across our whole school community. . . .
"This extension will allow us to build on that success. Once complete, Thrive will be one of the largest SEND resourced provisions in the country, enabling us to support even more young people while keeping them fully integrated within mainstream education.
"We are grateful to Southampton City Council for its support and to Mitie, our PFI partner, who will be developing the project for a September 2027 launch."
"This is a significant investment in the future of inclusive education in Southampton and one that will benefit students and families for many years to come."
