(UK) Somerset: $940,000 (US) autism center added to school

Feb 1, 2018, Somerset, England, Somerset Live: Bridgwater's Westover Green School opens new autism centre following multi-million investment A Bridgwater school has officially opened a new £700,000 autism centre to serve the local area. The 14-place facility centre at Westover Green School has a sensory room, calm room, kitchen area, outdoor play area and two classrooms. The children in the centre can access mainstream classes for many lessons and also receive specialised support in a calm setting when necessary. Three new school autism centres in Somerset, two in Taunton and one in Bridgwater, are set to benefit from a £2 million investment from Somerset County Council. This week the centre was opened by the the mayor and mayoress of Bridgwater and pupil Max Whiteside along with guests from the town. Executive headteacher Heather Good, said: “We are absolutely delighted with this new autism centre and this is wonderful news for local children.
