Human rights guidance on restraint and seclusion in schools is to be published in an attempt to protect some of Scotland’s most vulnerable children. The recommendations by the Scottish government for local authorities, schools and staff are being written after investigations by the Equality and Human Rights Commission Scotland (EHRC) and the Children and Young People’s Commissioner Scotland (CYPCS). Last year the CYPCS found that the use of restraint and seclusion on pupils was rarely monitored, with inconsistencies between councils….
