Jan 22, 2026, Reading Chronicle: Earley Radstock SEND Unit celebrates official opening
The Lilypad SEND unit at Radstock Primary School in Earley was formally launched by Wokingham Borough Mayor Cllr Carol Jewell on January 14.
Designed to support young children with autism and related needs, the facility offers 21 places for primary-aged pupils requiring tailored support.
Cllr Jewell said: "I am delighted to officially open The Lilypad at Radstock Primary School.
"This much-needed SEND unit has been thoughtfully designed to provide specialist support for children with additional needs, particularly those with speech, language and communication needs.
"In a provision like The Lilypad, children will be educated close to their homes and alongside their peers. . . .
The unit began supporting pupils in September 2024, starting with six children; a further nine were placed in September 2025.
The Lilypad aims to reach its full capacity of 21 pupils—three per year group—by September 2026. . . .
Councillor Bray said: "Locally, there is a growing demand for specialist provisions for pupils with SEND.
"The opening of The Lilypad will help to meet this demand while helping to enrich the lives of young people." . . .
