Plymouth has a new privately- run autism team to help families get answers quickly - without a long waiting list. The women-led team is offering a new service to help families with autistic children get their children assessed quickly.
Plymouth Autism Team (PAT) supports parents who are trying to get their child assessed before and after an autism diagnosis. PAT is the sister organisation of Step Up Speech and Language, which specialises in children's speech and language therapy across Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall.
The team supports pre-verbal children in working towards speaking and meaningful communication. Every member of the team specialises in their field, bringing a wealth of expertise to the table when working with children with autism. PAT also helps deliver interventions to help children achieve lifelong goals with their communication and development.
Although there is a cost, children can be assessed by PAT at home, within their school, nursery or even online. From the assessment PAT will then provide a detailed breakdown of the child's ability to communicate and interact with their surroundings….
