(UK) Norfolk schools to get MORE SPED places; demand increasing

Oct 1, 2019, North Norfolk News: £1.4m [$1.7M U.S.] therapeutic centre will create 24 school places https://www.northnorfolknews.co.uk/news/1-4m-therapeutic-centre-will-create-24-new-school-places-1-6300039 …It will be built within the campus shared by Sheringham Primary, Sheringham High and Sheringham Woodfields Schools and should be completed by next June. Headteacher James Stanbrook said: "This project will greatly increase children's access to important physical therapies, and the additional classroom space created will result in 24 new school places. "This will help relieve the pressure on demand for special school places as part of the local authority's Special Education Needs (SEND) Transformation Programme. The facilities will also be made available to other organisations within the community." Norfolk County Council cabinet member for children's services John Fisher said: "With the growing demand for specialist school places, we're investing £120m [$150M U.S.] into transforming (SEND) places in schools across the county." A 'breaking the ground' ceremony will be held on Thursday, October 10.
