June 24, 2018, (UK) Newham Recorder: Newham Council announces plans to expand autistic provision at primary schools http://www.newhamrecorder.co.uk/news/education/newham-council-announces-plans-to-expand-autistic-provision-at-primary-schools-1-5573251
Additional places could be created for autistic pupils at two primary schools.
Newham Council is consulting on a proposed expansion of Calverton Primary School’s provision for those with autistic spectrum disorder.
The school, in King George Avenue, Custom House, will double the number of pupils it can provide for from 14 to 28 under the plans, although the total number of school places will remain the same.
The intention is to expand the provision in phases, starting in September this year.
In addition, there are also plans to establish provision for children with autism at Sandringham Primary School.
This would see 24 places created at the Sandringham Road, Forest Gate school, with a phased introduction resulting in approximately three pupils per year group. Again, the overall number of school places will not change.
