Experts have issued a warning to focus on children's fitness and not just their weight And the rate of decrease in strength accelerated from 0.6 per cent a year to 1.6 per cent. Experts urged action to improve children’s fitness, not just weight. Essex University’s Dr Gavin Sandercock said: “As ten-year-olds are taller and heavier than those measured be¬fore, we thought they would be stronger and more powerful. But they’re weaker. “Since 1998 strength is down 20 per cent and endurance 30 per cent. More concerning is that rate of decline is accelerating. It suggests kids are doing less exercise.”…
