Near London

A historical building is set to be transformed into a school for children with special needs.

The East of England Co-op has confirmed the sale of its former education centre on Fore Street in Ipswich to children's services provider Polaris.  . . .

Stuart McDonald, chief property officer at the East of England Co-op, said: "We’re incredibly pleased that this property on Fore Street will continue its history as a hub for education.

"In line with our Portfolio Plan, the building is now surplus to our requirements, however, the property does have a special place in our history and we’re looking forward to seeing the building continue to thrive as a home for education."

Polaris, one of the largest children's services providers in the UK, will open a new small school offering specialist education to up to 30 children and young people in Ipswich and the surrounding areas.

The school will cater its services to the needs of local children. . . .

Recruitment for a headteacher and caretaker is underway.

Joanne Binfield, project manager from Polaris, said: "Our aim is to make school a safe and exciting space for children who need additional support with their education due to having SEND or SEMH needs. . . .
