(UK) Ilford: Plans near completion for new special school

June 4, 2026, Closed girls' school to be reopened for Special Needs children - Essex Live

Works for a brand new SEND school in our area are nearly complete, with the school set to open in time for the start of the next school year in September. Redbridge Council is collaborating with Hatton Upper School to develop a new SEND facility in Ilford, to be used by students in the local area.

Park School for Girls, which closed in July 2023, consists of one main building. This building has been extended multiple times to accommodate pupil intake, and the school's courtyard serves as the playground. . . .

The council has shared a brand new update regarding how work is going. It said: "Construction update: New SEND school. Groundworks completed, science block near completion, ready for phased handover to the school. Covered walkway connecting buildings completed. This is another step towards getting local families the support they need in Redbridge."
