What will happen in another 4 years? How can we go on like this? This is a national (and international) problem of monumental proportions. We have an entire new class of children who cannot be accommodated by the system: many are manifestly neurologically impaired. Meanwhile, the government and the medical profession sleep on regardless.

A new dedicated SEND unit and resource base has opened at The Boulevard Academy to provide additional support for students with special educational needs.

The self-contained modular building features two classrooms and breakout areas, specialist teaching spaces, staff areas and toilets.

The facility can support up to 25 secondary age students with a range of additional needs including Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The provision is designed to allow students to access the mainstream curriculum alongside targeted specialist support tailored to their individual learning and wellbeing.

It maintains the council’s commitment to meeting SEND requirements in Hull and will also help to create further specialist teaching roles in the city. . . .
