A new specialist school for autistic young people has been approved to open in Harrogate.
Lighthouse Education Trust plans to open Lighthouse School in the next academic year, providing up to 80 places for students aged 11 to 19.
The school will be based on the former Woodfield Primary School site and will offer a specialist environment to support autistic young people to 'thrive academically, socially and emotionally', while also preparing them for adulthood. . . .
Executive Principal, Emma Sullivan, said:
“We are incredibly proud to be bringing Lighthouse School to Harrogate. There is a clear need for specialist provision that is designed for autistic young people to succeed. . . . .
The school is expected to open initially to Year 7 and Year 8 pupils, growing gradually to full capacity.
