A new school for children with learning difficulties and autism is set to be built in Goring, the council have revealed.

Worthing Borough Council have approved plans to convert a Parklands Avenue building that has been empty for five years into an educational establishment that will also provide students with overnight accommodation. The school will support children aged between 11 and 16 and will have a maximum of 23 children at any time alongside up to 35 members of staff.

Councillor Jim Deen has emphasised the "urgent need" locally for "more of this kind of facility".

"This will give children who really need it the chance to have access to specialised education. “This development is also an excellent way of ensuring that the important heritage features of this wonderful building will be retained, as well as creating more than 30 jobs….
