Oct 9, 2025, Ely Standard: Spring Meadow Infant and Nursery School opens SEND unit
Spring Meadow Infant and Nursery School opened the facility on Wednesday, October 2, with a ceremony attended by MP Charlotte Cane, headteacher Laura Fielding, and assistant headteacher and SENDco Libby Cross.
The unit, which has been described as a "real investment in the future", can accommodate up to 30 children and features three classrooms, a sensory room, a library, and office spaces for staff and support services.
It has been designed to create a "calm, stimulating, and nurturing environment" that meets a range of sensory and learning needs.
Ms Cane praised the school's commitment to ensuring that every child has access to the right support and opportunities to thrive.
Parents, carers, and visitors were invited to take guided tours of the new facilities.
Mrs Fielding said: "a proud moment for our school community and is a real investment in the future of our children."
The event concluded with refreshments and an opportunity for parents and carers to speak to the staff members about the support and resources available.
