at Fair Oak Infant School, with work expected to begin later this year.
A £690,000 [$932K] project to create a new specialist classroom for children with autism at Fair Oak Infant School has been given the green light.
The new facility will provide support for up to nine pupils at the Eastleigh school, with the refurbished classroom expected to open from April 2027.
Hampshire County Council has approved funding for the project, which will see an existing modular building taken away, upgraded and returned to the Botley Road site as a specialist learning space. . . . .
The council said the project will help meet growing demand for specialist education places and allow children to receive support closer to their local communities.
A report considered by the council said a shortage of specialist places in Hampshire had contributed to more children being educated in independent and non-maintained specialist settings.
The project will increase the school’s capacity by nine places and create a dedicated specialist base for children aged four to seven with autism spectrum condition. . . .
