. . .The Sallygate School will now be able to support up to 80 children aged 8-17 with complex social and emotional difficulties, whose needs cannot be met in mainstream education. . . . 


There are more than 1.5 million school pupils with special educational needs in England, most of whom receive SEN support in school. Around a third have an Education Health Care Plan (EHCP), which specifies the additional support that is required to meet their needs. The need is growing; in 2022, there was a 23% increase in EHCP requests made to local authorities. . . .
