AN empty pub could be turned into a Special Educational Needs school (SEN) to meet the demand for specialist schools.
The Sage School is proposing to turn the former George Pub, in New Street, Doddington, into a school for up to 50 pupils.
The applicants propose to turn the vacant pub into a specialist school for secondary school children aged between 11 and 18 years old.
The school would cater for children with anxiety and mental health difficulties.
The Sage School said: “The proposal will provide high-quality education for up to 50 pupils who benefit from smaller class sizes, personalised learning programmes and a supportive education environment. The school aims to meet the growing demand for specialist education provision within Fenland and the surrounding areas while making sustainable use of an existing village building.”
