A Dagenham specialist SEN school is hoping to convert a former school caretaker's house into a new SEN support centre. Plans were submitted earlier this month for Trinity School, based on the Heathway, Dagenham, to be able to construct a family support centre to help families and prospects join and integrate into the school.
According to GOV.UK, the community special school serves 297 children and young people aged 3-19 with highly complex special educational needs, disabilities and medical needs.
The project, which was put forward by Barking and Dagenham Council, consists of extending the old caretaker's house with new single-storey flat roof extensions to the east and west sides of the building, which will form part of the new education establishment.
The design and statement report revealed recent changes by the school meant the caretaker no longer resides on the site and the property has been vacant for some time. The proposal also includes the existing garage being demolished and replaced with a new hygiene room….
