(UK) Clacton: School for "complex learning needs" adds 2 new classrooms

Feb 3, 2026 Clacton Gazette: Clacton: New classrooms open at Shorefields School

Shorefields School, in Holland Road, has about 160 pupils, aged three to 19, with a range of complex learning needs.

Built throughout the holidays, the new classrooms increase the capacity of the school, and enhance what teachers can provide for students.

Headteacher Gemma Fowler said: "Today we celebrated the official grand opening of our brand-new additional class bases, Shoreside Lodge, which now houses two classes.

"This wonderful new space enhances our provision and increases our capacity, allowing us to continue offering the very best for our students.

"Our new students have now been in their classes for a month, and we are delighted to share that they have settled beautifully into school life, making Shoreside Lodge feel like home from day one.

"I would like to say a huge thank you to Essex County Council, Barkers Associates, and Stroods for their incredible support throughout this journey."
