An anonymous survey of schools carried out by Weaver Vale MP Mike Amesbury has revealed a worrying lack of funding for children when it comes to special educational needs provision.
Responding to the survey, schools in Weaver Vale told Mike Amesbury that cuts had been made to the number of teaching assistant roles and to the hours they do, impacting on special educational needs provision. Now he has called for a meeting with Children’s Minister Claire Coutinho to discuss this issue.
Concerns about the issue have also been flagged up by parents who have spoken to CheshireLive about their own struggles in securing an education for their children. The parents, who spoke anonymously, said they had battled to secure an appropriate education for their sons, who had been left slipping through the cracks of the education system.
