(UK) Cheshire: Special school opens; 'There just aren’t enough special school places'
Everly Academy, on Navigation Road, opens its doors in September, and once fully established, aims to provide tailored education for up to 50 young people.
Initially catering for pupils in Years 7 to 11, the school hopes to expand in the future to offer a post-16 curriculum.
The Academy has been founded by Joshua Beaumont, Josie Vujcic and Jack Beech, who share a passion for creating a more inclusive future for children who need specialist support to succeed.
Although Everly Academy is an independent school, places will be funded through local authorities rather than by parents themselves.
Pupils who have been waiting for specialist school placements may be referred for assessment to determine whether the school is the right fit for their needs.
The founders say the school has been created in response to growing demand for specialist SEND provision across Cheshire.
Josie said: “There are thousands of families on waiting lists at the minute, but there just aren’t enough special school places.
“Parents are desperate. There are so many children drowning in mainstream education, or just not in any education at all. . . .
