Plans have been submitted that could see a former Cheshire doctor's surgery turned into a special education school. If approved, the former doctor's surgery on Lugsdale Road in Widnes will be converted into a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school, called Poppy Field School. The applicant, Lavender Field School Ltd, specialises in education for children with special education needs in a therapeutic learning environment, with four schools already operating in Cheddleton, Kidsgrove, Stafford and Crewe.
The new school would enroll up to 32 children between the ages of five and 18 over a two to three year period, with the predicted maximum of 32 reached in September 2024.
15 staff would be present once full capacity was reached, including one head teacher, four teachers, eight teaching assistants, one part-time administrative worker, one chef and one part-time therapist….
The children enrolled would have varied levels of specialist requirements, including autism spectrum conditions, speech, language and communication difficulties and learning difficulties associated with challenging behaviour. …
