It is to help an already-oversubscribed school
A training centre for teenagers with special needs is set to open in Burton. The new centre, in Third Avenue, will cater for up to 30 special educational needs students aged between 14 and 19.
They will be able to train in several vocational areas, including graphic design, IT and construction, earning they either BTEC and GCSEs qualifications.
The new school will act as a "satellite" facility to Longdon Park School, in Hilton Road, Egginton, which already has a fulfilled capacity of 65 pupils and strong pipeline of referrals and future admissions.
The applicant works with a number of local authorities. including Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Derby City, Birmingham City, Warwickshire, Leicestershire and Solihull....
A report submitted alongside the application said: "The site will cater for the vocational needs of a maximum of 30 special educational need students (both boys and girls), aged 14 to 19 years….
A decision is due in the next few months.
