Jan 21, 2026, Bromsgrove Advertiser: New Bromsgrove Thrive Hub SEND community space launches
FAMILIES have thrown their support behind a new community hub, which will help young adults with special educational needs and disabilities.
More than 70 people flocked to an open day for Thrive Hub Bromsgrove, which intends to support young people aged 16 to 24 as they transition from education into adulthood.
The event was so popular among families from across Worcestershire that registrations had to close early.
Parents attending the open day said the hub would fill a significant gap in local support . . .
Thrive Hub Bromsgrove, founded by experienced teacher Simon Connell, focuses on building confidence, developing life skills and creating opportunities for social connection.
Simon, who has more than 20 years’ experience in education, said: “We were overwhelmed by the success of our open day.
“It’s clear there is a real demand for this kind of provision, and to be launching it in our home town makes us especially proud.”
The open day was held on Saturday morning (January 18) at Social Sticks and he also thanked Social Sticks for hosting the event and supporting the project.
“They’ve been incredible in backing this SEN provision for families and have a real desire to make a difference in the community,” he added.
The first stage of the project will be a monthly ‘Saturday social’, where young adults can meet, socialise and take part in activities both indoors and outdoors.
These will include walks, therapy dog sessions, bowling, cinema trips and sports activities.
Future plans include a midweek evening club and, longer term, a weekday service focused on developing skills that could lead to education, volunteering or employment.
