The report found that teachers were unsure how to help children with complex needs

A Biggleswade school has been told to improve after inspectors found that there was a lack of support for SEND pupils. Edward Peake, CofE VC Middle School was rated 'requires improvement' by Ofsted in its latest inspection on May 24 and 25 this year.

The report found that the school, which teaches 567 pupils ages 9 to 13, has some pupils with special educational needs and/or disabilities (SEND) who "do not receive the precise support they need to learn well." The Ofsted report stated that the needs of some pupils with SEND are "not clearly identified nor communicated well enough to staff" and as a result, pupils with SEND "do not receive the precise support they need to help them to access the curriculum, and to learn well".

It added that staff are unsure of how to best help children with complex needs. The report added that school Governors have "not made thorough checks on how the school is providing for pupils with additional needs". As a result, some pupils with SEND "do not learn as well as they could".
