(UK) Basildon: Special preschool, elem school opens

Nov 24, 2025, Echo: Lee Chapel Primary School opens new £200k SEN centre

A new £200,000 state-of-the-art centre for children with special educational needs has opened at a school in Basildon.

The hub at Lee Chapel Primary School and Nursery was officially unveiled on November 21, alongside Father Christmas and his elves.

It was made possible thanks to the "tireless" fundraising efforts of two mothers and the school community.

Once funding for the building was approved, Danielle Trimmer and Natalie Down took on the challenge of raising the funds needed to equip the centre with sensory equipment.

Magic Makers, a charity that supports children and families living with life-limiting conditions in Essex, donated £2,500 worth of equipment. . .
