Youngsters with autism and additional needs can now experience learning in a whole new way at St Andrew’s School in Aylmerton.

Peter Ratcliffe, mayor of Sheringham, was a special guest at the opening of a new-build classroom which has a special sensory space to provide a calming environment for the school’s 45 pupils.

Before cutting the ribbon, Mr Ratcliffe said: "It is the first time I’ve opened a classroom and a great honour.

"This new classroom is part of an improvement scheme the school is undertaking, with the support of trustees, staff, students and parents, with an aim of making St Andrew’s a happy and healthy environment to learn in.

Carol Keable, headteacher at the school, added: "The completion of our school’s second new-build project has enabled students to benefit from an up-to-date classroom environment, with all students having access to our fabulous spacious and calming sensory room.”
