(UK) 90 percent of special needs parents say SPED support "inadequate"

Oct 8, 2025, CYPNow: Nine out of 10 parents of children with SEND raise concerns over lack of support

A significant majority of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are being put at a disadvantage due to a lack of support, according to a poll.

Some 89% of the 500 parents responding to the survey said inadequate SEND support was an issue, with less than 4% feeling the government provides sufficient levels of provision for their child.

The findings paint a “national picture of frustration, isolation and unmet needs”, said charity the National Association for Special Educational Needs (Nasen), following the publication of the research.

The survey, by educational resources provider TTS, also found that fewer than 4% of respondents think the government has made improvements to SEND provision.

Some 94% said they felt overwhelmed when trying to access support and only 9% felt it is easy to access the advice they need.
